These are some drawings I did while animating on the film Hotel Transylvania.
Near the start of production, I was given a scene where Mavis (Dracula's daughter) is sitting on her bed and she's feeling a bit troubled with the world. I was trying to figure out her character at this point, so I did these drawings as an attempt to get inside her head as well as try to come up with some sitting poses that would be unique to a teen aged girl.
I went drawing at the L.A. Zoo today. It was really hot there, but I lucked out and found this sweet shady table on a patio that overlooks the Giraffes' enclosure. The perfect spot to do some marker drawings.
Once a week, I get together with a bunch of good folks at lunchtime for Sketchclub. We hang out in a restaurant or patio in Culver City and draw anything and anyone around us. Recently, I caught fellow sketchclubber, Shane Cauchi, working away on some cool drawings.
I've been playing in Corel Painter a lot lately. These are a couple of examples of exercises I do in my spare time. Quick landscape value studies and playing with colour in portraits are things I've been focusing on the most.
